Manor School Sports College is thrilled to have been rated as a ‘good’ school following their recent Section 8 Ofsted Inspection.
The inspectors conducted a wide range of observations during their two days on site, as well as meeting with staff & students and carrying out what Ofsted call “Deep Dives” into three subject areas: Maths, English and Geography.
The inspectors were pleased with what they saw and heard from the school’s Curriculum Leaders, teachers and, most importantly, students. The school is particularly pleased that the inspectors recognised their inclusivity and acknowledged that the school has a “well-thought-out and ambitious academic and vocational curriculum for all” that offers students a broad and balanced range of subjects at all Key Stages.
The report states that the school is “generally a calm and orderly community” where “relationships between pupils and staff are positive”. It also recognises the strength of teachers’ subject knowledge and that “subject leaders think carefully about what pupils should learn and when”. The school’s safeguarding arrangements are effective, with inspectors identifying the high profile of safeguarding amongst staff and leaders.
The Sixth Form has been an area of significant focus this year for the school, and so it was encouraging that their improvements to student support as well as their study environment were not only recognised by the inspectors but were also articulated to them by the Sixth Form students.
Jay Davenport, Principal, commented:
“We are delighted with the comments written by the Lead Inspector who recognised the huge amount of work that staff and students have put in since the last inspection. The inspectors were very impressed with our emphasis on personal development and the explicit links to our Work. World. Wellness. curriculum as well as our enrichment offer: they clearly understood that this is a big part of who we are as a school and that it is a key part of our school vision.
We are absolutely delighted with the outcome as we believe the inspection was rigorous and fair. We are very pleased to have the external verification that the school is a great place to learn, and that it offers excellent opportunities for young people to achieve our mission of ‘Success for All’.
Schools are about community and we recognise the importance of the role of parents and carers within our community. Thank you for your support throughout the inspection and for your responses to the parent survey. We look forward to working together with you to ensure that Manor School continues to be a school of which we can all be proud.”
Chris Hill, CEO of the Nene Education Trust, commented “I congratulate the staff, students and the wider community associated with Manor School on this well-deserved result. This inspection acts as validation of the journey of improvement that the school has been on over the last few years.”
The school was inspected on the 4th and 5th of March. Section 8 Ofsted reports take the format of a short letter, which can be downloaded below.
