Raunds 2018 Crime Rates Published

Each month Raunds Town Voice receives police data regarding reported crimes in the local area, and each month we try to assess whether there has been any material change to previous periods.

We have now received data relating to the full year of 2018 and we’re able to publish our findings

We are pleased to be able to report that reported instances in the following areas appear to be reduced:

  • Anti-social behaviour (-41%)
  • Bicycle Theft (-33.3%)
  • Burglary (-47.6%)
  • Other Theft (-33.3%)
  • Possession of weapons (-33.3%)
  • Shoplifting (-7.1%)

As a whole the number of individual crimes reported is down by 14.4% against 2017, however areas where their appear to be an increase in reported crimes are as follows

  • Drugs (+ 325%)
  • Criminal damage and arson (+ 11.4%)
  • Public order (+70%)
  • Theft from the person (+200%)
  • Vehicle crime (+27.9%)
  • Violence and sexual offences (+21%)

The area of drug related reported crime appears to be the largest within the town of Raunds with an average of 1.4 crimes reported in each month of 2018 against 2017’s average of 0.3 per month.

As always, it’s important to highlight that this data does not reflect the growth in Raunds’ population as this data is not available. It also only shows the number of crimes that were reported.

An interesting read. I would say some of it is quite different though due to the lack of police presence. (No fault of their own) so a lot more is going on un reported. I’ve seen quite a few reports recently of people being broken into, violence etc. Makes you wonder what the real figures would be like if policing was the same amount as two yrs ago.
