Flava Jacks is a new startup business in Raunds offering Carribean Cuisine delivery straight to your door as of 10th July
This weekend they have been at the Days with Thomas event at Buckinghamshire Rail Centre cooking up some chicken. Last Saturday they were also at St Neots Armed Forces day where they were so popular that they sold out early!
Flava Jacks hold a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 and were praised by the East Northamptonshire County Council in their recent article:
“East Northamptonshire Council is celebrating Food Safety Week (4-10 June 2018) by highlighting the importance of getting in contact with your local authority before you start to build your food business.
Flava Jacks is a great example of a business that contacted ENC and was given the right information and advice to make sure they got it right at the very beginning.
Inspired by Caribbean food, Flava Jacks contacted ENC to ask what food regulations they need to consider. Just one meeting later and they knew all about:
- Registering the business
- Complying with food hygiene legislation
- Type of equipment needed and the layout of their food business
- Safe preparation of food
- Other people they would need to contact prior to trading, such as Planning
Cllr Steven North, Leader of East Northamptonshire Council says:
“Flava Jacks is a perfect example of a business working with the council to make sure it starts off with the information it needs to succeed. ENC is committed to helping businesses thrive in the district and I urge anyone thinking of starting one to contact us for advice.”
The advice given to Flava Jack’s also helped maximise their budget, ensuring they only spent on the essentials, saving them money to invest elsewhere. This all led to a food safety inspection on 4 May 2018 which resulted in a top Food Hygiene Rating score of 5.
Lisa and Jermaine Jackson, owners of Flava Jacks added:
“Starting up any business is daunting, but laying the foundations before you begin is essential. Speaking to East Northamptonshire Council really helped start Flava Jacks, as their Health Protection team gave us the right advice to make sure we were prepared.
“Knowing what food safety regulations we had to adhere to, made sure we got it right from the start, saving us time, money and stress. If you’re thinking of starting a food business, speak to your council first.””
So…anyone for some Jerk Chicken or Curry Goat?
