Sour Experience for New Sweet Shop Owner

Mandy Clayton, owner of new shop ‘Balloons & Candy by Mandy’ says:

“So some of you may be aware we had some suspicious activity in the shop on Friday.

Firstly a couple come in to look round, saw my CCTV and he ran. Then 4 children came in just taking sweets.

1 who’s name I will not publish on here said how the sweets were in their hand so no good now.

When I held my hand out and offered to put the sweets in the bin they started messing around with them then left..

I may have to do something I didn’t want to do and limit how many youngsters come in at one time without an adult.

Then after they left all was quiet till just before closing time.

The man from the earlier incident came back. I now know that the card he was trying to use was not real. Sadly he did get some sweets and slushy and I hope he enjoyed them. (Sarcasm may not be my strong point).

Needless to say I felt very vulnerable in the shop. I do plan to alter my opening hours. But I am also altering my personal security as well as the property security.. what sad person really feels they must attempt to rob a brand new sweet shop?

Maybe they think I’m making big money. But in all honesty it has hit me quite a bit. I won’t allow kim to open up and be in the shop alone again. And although I worry it will happen again our cctv has been given a makeover and a move. And permanent recording to my phone. So I can even be a sado that watches a shop in the dark..”

Such a shame that people can’t respect the fact that you are offering a service to the community at your expense. Thieving from any shop is bang out of order but to do it to a sweet shop is just horrendous, I really don’t know what society is coming to when things like this happen.
