Windmill Primary School is a thriving primary school and the heart of a wonderful community of children, parents and staff. They have been recognised in many forums for their excellent practice, especially with children with higher needs. The reputation of the school is just exceptional, both locally and now more widespread.
With this in mind, they are looking to develop an additional area for their children with sensory needs. A sensory room is a special room designed to develop a child’s sense, usually through special lighting, music and objects. It can be used as a therapy for children with limited communication skills. Please see the images below for an indication of what they are looking to create.
To make this happen, they need to convert two rooms (these rooms were actually a former changing room block). They also then need to purchase a heavy duty shed to store some additional equipment.
The school is asking local businesses for kind sponsorship of this project. The school can guarantee publicity, but more importantly it would make a huge difference to the children within the school community. As is well-publicised, school budgets are being cut all the time but we owe it to our children to offer them the very best opportunities.
