Raunds Schools to CLOSE tomorrow (Monday)

Joint statement from Raunds Schools:

“The Raunds schools have made the decision that the schools with not be open to children tomorrow (Monday 11th December)

Discussions have been ongoing all afternoon between the four headteachers

The roads around our schools and around the county are treacherous, meaning that teaching staff may not be able to get to work. In addition, the school sites have been checked and we cannot guarantee the safety of children on the site.

We hope that you appreciate that this is not an easy decision. We can’t please everybody, but have to make a decision that is in the best interests of children and staff. We also thought that giving you additional notice would give you more time to make alternative arrangements for your children.

Where possible, we will be in our schools tomorrow to ensure that they are prepared for Tuesday.

Thanks for your understanding

When we were kids . Schools never closed because of snow.. its not snowing inside the school? And we didn’t have the teacher training days. The cost for parents who work to make alternative arrangements for all these closures must be a nightmare.

Val Yates, in fairness when we were at school I can’t imagine our parents would have sued the school if we fell over on ice in the playground either though. We sadly live in a compensation culture.

It will be below freezing tonight, weather is forecast as more snow and below zero again for much of tomorrow. So the roads and pavements will be icy, not just snowy, and you think it’s fine for hundreds of people to drive their kids to schools? If they made their decision tomorrow morning, plenty more mums would be up in arms saying they weren’t given enough notice! Can’t win.
