Manor School Students Hold Quiz Night to Fund Volunteering Trip to Africa

Students from Manor School held a quiz night at the Saxon Hall in Raunds on October 14 in order to raise funds for their 2018 trip to Zanzibar.

English teacher Mr Guest took on the role of quiz master for the evening, keeping the questions flowing and ensuring that the winning team would have to work hard to be crowned champions. 180 members of the local community attended the event which raised just over £2500 for the twelve students involved. The team would like to thank the Mayor of Raunds and Raunds Town Council for their support with the event.

The students each need to raise £3040 to fund the trip, and have so far accumulated £13,750 as a group. Whilst in Zanzibar they will be participating in community development projects as well as teaching in local schools.

The students have now planned a Barn Dance to take place at Saxon Hall on Saturday 24 March from 7pm. Tickets are £10 each and include a ploughman’s lunch plus access to the on-site bar. To buy tickets for the dance or to find out more about how to support the fundraising effort, please email james.guest@manorschool.northants.sch.uk.
