Raunds Town Council are delighted to announce that they have become the first council in Northamptonshire to be awarded the Gold Standard, under the Local Council Award Scheme. Nationally only 26 councils have achieved the gold level of award.
The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) scheme is open to around 10,000 Local Councils in England and Wales. The scheme celebrates the successes of the very best local councils.
There are three levels of award, Foundation, Quality and the top award of Gold. NALC describes councils who achieve the Gold Award as being “a council that is at the forefront of best practice and achieves excellence in governance, community leadership and council development. Quality Gold councils provide leadership for their communities, bring people together, have excellent business planning processes, ensuring value for money as well as constantly seeking new innovations and opportunities to improve. They highlight the very best we, as a sector, can achieve for our communities”.
Danny Moody Chief Executive of the Northamptonshire County Association of Local Council’s presented the award to Cllr Howell Mayor of Raunds at the Town Assembly held on the 18th April 2017. When presenting the award Mr Moody said “It’s wonderful to have such a dynamic and progressive council in the county because it serves as a beacon for other councils to follow. Raunds Town Council has now set the bar for others to reach”
He added that it had been easy for the accreditation panel to reach their decision as the standard of the submission had been so good. “Congratulations go to the whole council and in particular Cllr Helen Howell as Mayor and to Kate Houlihan as Town Clerk”
Cllr Helen Howell Mayor of Raunds said “We are absolutely delighted that Raunds Town Council has achieved the highest level, GOLD award.
